Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has claimed that Time will decide whether or not he comes back to feature for the national side as he continues his battle with weakened eyesight. Shakib had visited Singapore for treatment last month, mid-way through the Bangladesh Premier League before returning to play a very brief role for the Rangpur Riders.

Shakib Al Hasan hasn’t batted that much in the ongoing BPL edition and has only contributed with the ball, something he feels very sorry about doing for the Riders. Since the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, he has been dealing with a prolonged blurry vision on his left eye and it has made life difficult for him as a cricketer.

Maybe that is why he has also taken up national politics and he even recently won a Parliament seat for Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League party. He has won many hearts of cricket fans throughout his career and when he went to fight for a seat in a western town in Magura District, Shakib Al Hasan won by a heavy margin and registered 185,388 votes.

While his life off the field has proved to be successful as of now, it remains to be seen how far can his cricketing journey stretch. It is being said that Shakib is doubtful of a Bangladesh return when Sri Lanka comes for 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, and more than 3 T20Is.

The 36-year-old said to the reporters that he would be speaking to the management before jumping on a decision. He said his future as the ODI captain will also be discussed in the meeting and admitted that he is struggling to find a rhythm as he is not able to bat that much.

“We are still playing the tournament (BPL). I will speak to the officials, and then take the decision (to feature against Sri Lanka). I will take a decision in this regard (captaincy) after talking with the board but we still have not discussed it.” – Shakib Al Hasan told reporters outside Sylhet International Stadium.

“The more I score runs, the more comfortable I will be. I can’t find the rhythm when there are no runs. I have never done this in my life (like) just playing with one side. It is the first time and I feel for Rangpur Riders. I am only able to fulfill half of their expectations.”  – Shakib added.

“You Are Repeating About My Eye, Eye, Eye”, Shakib Al Hasan Gets Agitated On Reporter’s Question

Ever since it was disclosed that Shakib Al Hasan had gone to Singapore for eye treatment, it instantly became a hot topic. Everyone started making their theories if Shakib would return to national colors again or not. And when the reporters again asked him about it, the veteran could not hold back and lashed out at the reporters.

“I don’t know when this (eyes) will improve. This thing that you are repeating about my eye, eye, eye, eye. There’s no problem in the eye. What you see wearing spectacles, I can see better than you. We are trying to find what has gone wrong. I went to Singapore to see what happened to my eyes and body and we are trying to find out where the problem is.” – Shakib Al Hasan concluded.
