"Shakib Al Hasan Likely To Bat At No. 4"- National Selector

Bangladesh Cricket Team had a below-par Asia Cup 2022 where the team was knocked out in the first round itself. Shakib Al Hasan who was appointed as the skipper of the team was quite fumed as the team didn’t play according to their credentials.

Bangladesh is all set to play Tri-Series in New Zealand which also features Pakistan. The management has to find an ideal combination quickly as the team would be aware of their dismal show in the 2021 T20 Edition where they weren’t able to win a single match in the tourney.

Habibul Bashar on Shakib Al Hasan

Habibul Bashar was seen interacting with Cricbuzz and was asked about Shakib al Hasan. “We are discussing it (whether he will bat at three or not). In the CPL he batted at four and played well. I think on Australian wickets he will make necessary adjustment (even if he is moved to four).It’s not like he (Shakib) is very rigid as far as his batting order is concerned. He is very flexible and he doesn’t have any problem batting at three or four when we spoke with him about his place in the batting order.” said Habibul

“The biggest thing is that Shakib is open-minded about batting anywhere. A lot of people think that he won’t bat anywhere apart from three but the fact is he does not carry such mindset. He is happy to bat anywhere and being the captain he is seeing everything in a different perspective and looks like he is more than happy to do anything that is good for the team. In Australia I feel he will bat at four while someone else will bat at three. I think our five, six and seven are fixed.” he added.

Critical Tournament for Bangladesh

BCB would be hoping that the team clicks this time as they have got all the experience and skills in the players. Shakib will once again have to make sure that he leads the team by an example. We all know that Bangladesh is famous for pulling off upsets but now they have to take one step forward and try to qualify for Semi-finals.

The likes of Mustafizur will have to be effective as he is the senior fast bowler in the team. The team would be hoping that they follow basics and don’t try to complicate the things. We all know that Bangladesh don’t have hitting prowess that much but they should look for singles and doubles.
