The International Cricket Council (ICC) on August 8, 2021, announced the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month Awards for July 2021 to recognize the best performances from men’s cricketers across all forms of international cricket. The nominees are Mitchell Marsh (AUS), Shakib Al Hasan (BAN), and Hayden Walsh Jr (WI).
Australia’s Mitchell Marsh was nominated for his triumphant performance on the white-ball tour of the Caribbean. In the T20I series, he was the backbone of the Australia batting lineup after being promoted to bat at no.3. In the Caribbean, Marsh amassed 219 runs in five T20Is at an average of 43.80 that included three half-centuries. He was amazing with the ball as well, picking up 8 wickets at an economy of 6.76. Marsh ended the series as the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker for Australia.

Ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been a shining star for the Tigers in their recent series against Zimbabwe. In the only Test, Shakib took a total of 5 wickets and then starred with the ball as well, picking a five-wicket haul in the first ODI and he ended as the highest wicket-taker in the series with 8 scalps.
West Indies leg-spinner Hayden Walsh Jr has an amazing time in the five T20I matches and three one-day international matches against Australia recently. To his credit, Walsh Jr never went wicketless in any of the match in the series. He thus ended as the leading wicket-taker for the West Indies in both the ODIs and T20Is – 7 wickets in ODIs, which included his maiden five-wicket haul and 12 scalps in T20Is.

“The nominees for the monthly men’s awards this time are Shakib Al Hasan (BAN), Mitchell Marsh (AUS), and Hayden Walsh Jr (WI) while Hayley Matthews (WI), Fatima Sana (PAK) and Stafanie Taylor (WI) figure in the women’s shortlist,” stated an official ICC release.
West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews scored her second ODI hundred and took two wickets with the ball as West Indies cruised to a dominant series-clinching eight-wicket win over Pakistan.
Fatima Sana was the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in the ODI series against the West Indies and her maiden five-wicket haul helped Pakistan defeat West Indies by 22 runs via the DLS method in the 5th ODI.
West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor contributed with both bat and ball as the West Indies won both their ODI and T20I series against Pakistan in July. In 4 ODIs, she scored 175 runs with a strike rate of 79.18 and took three wickets with an economy rate of 3.72.
