The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruque Ahmed has finally broken his silence on the murder case filed against the superstar cricketer Shakib Al Hasan.

Shakib is undoubtedly the greatest-ever cricketer to represent Bangladesh on the international stage. Since making his debut in 2006, he has dominated with his performances across all three formats of the game.

Shakib Al Hasan has already represented Bangladesh in 68 Tests, 247 ODIs, and 129 T20Is. Although he is currently fully fit and can offer his services to Bangladesh for a few more years, it looks like the 37-year-old won't be able to do that because of the legal trouble he is facing at the moment.

Shakib Al Hasan came in trouble after the fall of the previous government in Bangladesh as he was the MP of that party.

Since then, he hasn't returned to Bangladesh and has stayed overseas. In between all the chaos in Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan has been named in a murder case filed by Rafiqul Islam, the father of garment factory worker Rubel, who was killed on August 5 in Dhaka's Adabora.

A legal notice has already been sent to the Bangladesh Cricket Board to remove Shakib Al Hasan from the national team. The notice mentions that the all-rounder needs to be kicked out of the Bangladesh setup because the ICC rules, which are in place, don't allow alleged murderers to play international cricket, reported Cricbuzz.

Faruque Ahmed Makes Revelation On Shakib Al Hasan's Future

The BCB President Faruque Ahmed had a meeting with his board directors on Saturday and after the meeting, he spoke about the matter.

He said that they will make a decision on Shakib Al Hasan's future after the conclusion of the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, where the all-rounder is participating.

"Let me say about Shakib. A case has been lodged. We are yet to get any legal notice. A FIR (first information letter) was given in the case and later there will be an investigation and following that the case will move in one direction or the other," Faruque Ahmed told reporters following the meeting, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

"Look now we are playing Test match and it is very good news that we have played well in the fourth day and tomorrow is the fifth day the deciding day of the Test and I think at this point we did not think about taking any stance. After tomorrow game is over we will sit and take a decision. By this time we can also say something about the legal notice as we will receive the legal notice by that time," the BCB President said.

"Look the FIR is just the first information letter and they are yet to claim any charge as far as I know and before that it is difficult to take a decision. Look the relationship with BCB and Shakib al Hasan is like player and an employer according to contract and after tomorrow we can think exactly after getting the legal notice and based on that. I cannot withdraw him from middle of the Test match," he further said.

"You know the second Test match is on August 30 and we will take in between as there is a gap and we can think what can be done in this regard," Faruque Ahmed added.

As the demand for Shakib Al Hasan's return to Bangladesh grows for further investigation, he would be hoping that the Bangladesh Cricket Board makes a decision in his favor otherwise it would result in one of the greatest cricketing careers ending abruptly.
