Shamar Joseph responds to Ian Healy's verbal attack by destroying Sam Konstas & Co. in WI vs AUS 1st Test

The 25-year-old West Indies National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Shamar Joseph has responded to the former Australia National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Ian Healy's verbal attack in an epic manner.

Shamar Joseph let his ball do the talking and demolished the Australian batting unit with a fiery spell on Day 1 of the Test series opener at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.

However, he got an extra motivation to do well against the Aussies after he was disrespected by Ian Healy ahead of the start of the Test series in the Caribbean.

It all started when Joseph dropped a one-liner on the teenage sensation Sam Konstas, who was set to play his first Test against the West Indies, saying, "Just look out, that’s all."

For some weird reason, Ian Healy took this comment to heart and launched a verbal attack on the West Indies pacer. Speaking to SENQ Breakfast co-host Corey Parker, Ian Healy said Shamar Joseph had a 'terrible year' since his heroics against Australia at the Gabba and he 'delivered crap all year'.

"Shamar has come out today and said to Konstas’ just look out and watch what is coming’. OK Shamar well you’ve delivered crap all year. So he better improve, that’s what I’m saying in the dressing room. He’s got real trouble. You’re not Curtly Ambrose, champ," said Ian Healy.

Shamar Joseph bags a 4-wicket haul

West Indies were invited to bowl first in the first Test match, and Shamar Joseph started off his opening spell in a brilliant fashion, dismissing Sam Konstas LBW on the fourth ball of the fourth over for 3.

He then cleaned up Australia's new No.3 Cameron Green on the fourth ball of the 10th over for 3 with a superb delivery that the batter edged behind to Greaves. Notably, Green was earlier dropped in the gully when he was batting on 0.

The right-arm quick picked his third wicket of the day by dismissing the veteran opener Usman Khawaja on the fourth ball of the 40th over for 47 as the batter edged one behind to Shai Hope.

Meanwhile, Joseph saved his best ball for the all-rounder Beau Webster in the 44th over. On the sixth ball of the over, he bowled an absolute ripper that pitched on middle and leg, before snaking away to shatter the stumps of the all-rounder for 11.

The pacer was very close to completing a 5-wicket haul when he made Travis Head edge one behind through to Shai Hope, but the third umpire made a controversial decision of not out and felt there was no evidence to confirm a clean catch, giving the Aussie batter a lifeline

Joseph has been special for us - Jayden Seales

Other than Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales shone with the ball in the first innings for the West Indies as he bagged a sensational five-wicket haul to bowl out the Aussies for 180.

Meanwhile, Seales lauded Shamar for his performance and said that he loves playing against Australia. He said:

"(Shamar) Joseph has been special for us. He loves performing against Australia. Made the job easier for us. Back your skills and wait for the bad balls is what the batters would have to look to do tomorrow. There's a bit in it for the bowlers here."
