West Indies bowler Shamar Joseph silenced his critics, including former Australian wicketkeeper Ian Healy, during the opening Test against Australia. Healy had dismissed Joseph’s potential, claiming he was “not Curtly Ambrose,” but Joseph responded with a performance that left Australia's top order reeling.

Australia replaced the struggling Marnus Labuschagne with Sam Konstas for the first Test, but the move hasn’t paid off. Konstas scored only eight runs across both innings. It’s worth mentioning that the right-handed batter was dismissed by Shamar Joseph in both innings of the series opener in Barbados.

Sam Konstas was dropped twice off Shamar Joseph’s bowling before scoring a run. However, Joseph eventually dismissed him for 5 off 38 balls, forcing an inside edge onto the stumps with a delivery that seamed in sharply. Konstas, visibly frustrated, was dismissed by Joseph in both innings of the match.

Konstas, who had been dropped from Australia’s playing XI for the Test series in Sri Lanka and the World Test Championship final at Lord’s, made his return for the opening Test in the West Indies. Konstas had impressed fans with his fearless 60-run innings off 65 balls against India on Boxing Day.

Joseph delivered a historic performance, taking 7 for 68 to guide his team to their first Test win on Australian soil in 27 years.

You’re Not Curtly Ambrose Champ - Ian Healy

Ahead of the first Test, Shamar Joseph issued a warning to Sam Konstas, saying, “Just look out, that’s all.” Konstas returned to the Test squad after making his debut in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy six months ago.

In response, former Australian wicketkeeper Ian Healy took a sharp dig at Joseph, criticizing his form since his impressive performance at the Gabba. Speaking on SENQ Breakfast, Healy remarked that Joseph had delivered “crap all year” and added, “You’re not Curtly Ambrose, champ.”

“He’s had a terrible year since he went through us at the Gabba. Shamar has come out today and said ’just look out and watch what is coming’. Ok Shamar, well, you’ve delivered crap all year."

“He’d better improve, that’s what I’m saying in the dressing room. He’s got real trouble. You’re not Curtly Ambrose champ," Healy told SENQ Breakfast.

West Indies Bowled Out for 190 in First Innings

Earlier on Day 2, West Indies batters Roston Chase and Shai Hope added a crucial 67-run partnership. Chase survived an LBW appeal on 1 and was dropped by Sam Konstas on 4. He was dismissed for 44 in controversial fashion, upset after being given out to Pat Cummins despite appearing to edge the ball.

Shai Hope, who scored 48, also faced a debatable dismissal when replays suggested the ball might have touched the ground before being collected by wicketkeeper Alex Carey off Webster’s bowling.

Australia’s pace trio, Mitchell Starc (3/65), Josh Hazlewood (2/34), and Pat Cummins (2/34), maintained consistent pressure, with Nathan Lyon claiming the final wicket by dismissing Jayden Seales, who mistimed a slog to the deep.
