There has been tension within the Pakistan national cricket team dressing room following the recent defeat against Bangladesh in the first Test match.

According to local media reports, the team management is unhappy with the team’s performance, especially the fast bowlers, during the series opener.

The home team suffered a 10-wicket defeat in the first Test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Sunday, August 25.

The home team released spinner Abrar Ahmed from the squad before the match. They picked Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Khurram Shahzad, and Mohammad Ali as specialist bowlers.

The home team has been heavily criticized following their poor performance in the opening Test against Bangladesh.

It is worth noting that it was Bangladesh's first-ever Test victory over the home team. Mushfiqur Rahim was named 'Player of the Match' for his brilliant batting during the first innings.

Pakistan Dressing Room Talks Revealed After Recent Loss

According to Geo Super, the team management expressed dissatisfaction with the bowlers' performance during the series opener.

Both the management and senior players are concerned about the decline in the pace of the fast bowlers.

The report further added that captain Shan Masood, coach Jason Gillespie, and senior players discussed the fast bowlers' underwhelming performance. They believed that the bowlers failed to make the most of the favorable conditions in the recently concluded red-ball match.

Pakistan suffered a 10-wicket Loss To Bangladesh In 1st Test

The home team scored 448 runs for the loss of six wickets during their first innings. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan scored an unbeaten 171 runs off 239 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes. Saud Shakeel amassed 141 runs off 261 deliveries with the help of nine boundaries.

Bangladesh was bowled out for 565 runs in their first innings. Mushfiqur Rahim fell short of a double century during the match.

He scored 191 runs off 341 balls, including 22 fours and one six. Shadman Islam (93), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (77), and Litton Das (56) chipped in with crucial contributions.

The Najmul Hossain Shanto-led team took a lead of 117 runs after their first innings. Pakistan could manage only 146 runs in their second innings. Apart from Mohammad Rizwan (51) and Abdullah Shafique (37), other Pakistan batters failed to make an impact on the final day of the first Test match.

The home side set a modest target of 30 runs for Bangladesh. Zakir Hasan (15) and Shadman Islam (9) helped the visiting team chase down the target without losing a wicket. Before this match, the home team had won 12 out of 13 Tests against Bangladesh, with one match ending in a draw.

Former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie started his first assignment as Pakistan Test coach with a loss against Bangladesh. The home team skipper Shan Masood has faced four consecutive losses. They will aim to prevent a series defeat in the second and final Test at the same venue, starting on August 30.
