Pakistan captain Shan Masood wants more Test matches for Pakistan in the upcoming future. Ahead of the series against Bangladesh, Masood stated that Pakistan is yet to find a suitable way of playing at home and that is the reason why they haven't used the home conditions to their advantage so far.

In the last two years, Pakistan have played Test series against Australia, England, and New Zealand in home conditions. While the Men in Green managed to salvage a 0-0 draw in the two-match Test series against New Zealand, they lost 0-1 to Australia in the three-match Test series.

The result against England was even more humiliating as the tourists whitewashed Pakistan 3-0 in a three-match series.

Pakistan will be playing nine Tests in the next four months which included a fair amount of Tests at home. They will be aiming to improve their record and find a way to win games in home conditions.

Shan Masood wants 'more Test cricket' for Pakistan

During a podcast with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shan Masood wants more Test matches for Pakistan to improve their record in the longest format of the game. Masood wants Pakistan to play Test cricket consistently as it will help them achieve the desired results.

“We need more Test cricket. For me, it’s more about how we can get our team to play more Test matches. That comes down to scheduling, reducing the gaps, and ensuring we have consistent Test squads going forward."

"We’re playing nine Test matches in four months, but we’ve also had to deal with an unfortunate calendar where we played in Australia, and then we’re playing our next Test after ten months. These are challenges that Pakistan cricket needs to address going forward,” Masood said.

"We still haven’t found our ideal way of playing at home" - Shan Masood

Masood also mentioned that Pakistan is yet to find an ideal way to play in home conditions. Pakistan have recently struggled in Test cricket even in familiar conditions at home.

The Pakistan skipper believes that the other teams have an advantage as they have been continuously playing at home. On the other hand, Pakistan started playing at home in 2019 due to constant security issues in the country.

“If I’m being brutally honest, in home Test matches, because they’ve been played at different times of the year and against different nations, we still haven’t found our ideal way of playing at home that suits our batting, bowling, and overall style,” the 34-year-old left-hander reckoned.

Pakistan yet to decide its best approach at home - Shan Masood

“In Test cricket, which is the ultimate challenge in the game, you have to be familiar with certain conditions. Yes, we’ve been playing at home since 2019, but other teams have been playing on their home soils for much longer. We still have to decide what our best approach at home is,” Masood added.

Pakistan will play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home. The series will begin on August 21 at Rawalpindi. The second Test of the series will be played in Karachi from August 30. This will be the first assignment of Jason Gillespie as Pakistan's red-ball coach.
