Shardul Thakur Bought By CSK For Rs 4 Crores In IPL Auction 2024

India allrounder Shardul Thakur will be playing for Chennai Super Kings once again after being signed up by them in the ongoing IPL 2024 auction.
The Mumbai star was one of the three Indian players who had registered themselves at a base price of Rs 2 crores. As soon as his name was called out, Chennai Super Kings made their intentions clear by bidding for him. Sunrisers Hyderabad were next to join the race and decided to pull out at Rs 3.20 crores at first before submitting another bid.??Chennai Super Kings, however, remained firm and eventually signed the player for Rs 4 crores.
Shardul Thakur was one of the 12 players released by Kolkata Knight Riders on the deadline day for IPL 2024 retentions. In November last year, he was traded to the Kolkata Knight Riders in exchange for Aman Khan for a whopping deal of Rs 10.75 crores. He, however, could not perform well for the Kolkata-based outfit as he managed just 7 wickets and scored 113 runs in 11 games.
The Mumbai allrounder had started his IPL career in 2015 with Punjab Kings before being acquired by Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017. In 2018, he was signed up by Chennai Super Kings. In 2021, when Chennai won their fourth IPL title, he was their highest wicket-taker with 21 wickets from 16 games. In 2022 mega auction, he was signed up Delhi Capitals. So far, he has picked up 89 wickets and scored 286 runs in 86 games in IPL.
