Sarfaraz Khan has suffered yet another setback in his career as the selectors recently decided against including him in the India A squad for the upcoming red-ball series against South Africa A.
The right-handed batsman has not played a Test for India since the home series against New Zealand in November last year.
Sarfaraz earned his maiden Test call-up for the home series against England
After scoring heavily in domestic cricket for a number of seasons, Sarfaraz Khan finally earned his maiden Test call-up for the home series against England last year.
He announced his arrival at the highest stage of the game by scoring twin half-centuries in his debut Test. Later, he smashed 150 against New Zealand in the Bengaluru Test. In his first 6 Tests, the Mumbai star scored 371 runs at an average of 37.10. However, he has not played a Test since then.

Sarfaraz was an unused player on the tour of Australia
He was an unused player on the tour of Australia before losing his place in the Test team. He was overlooked for the England tour even after scoring 92 for India A against England Lions in an unofficial Test.
Recently, things went from bad to worse for Sarfaraz Khan as he could not even find a spot in the India A squad for the forthcoming series against South Africa. Many believe that the recent decision from the selectors is a big indication that the selectors do not see Sarfaraz as an option for the time being.
Shardul Thakur's message for Sarfaraz Khan:
As Sarfaraz Khan looks to bounce back from another setback, Mumbai captain Shardul Thakur has thrown his support behind him. The out-of-favor India allrounder stated that Sarfaraz Khan does not need to play for India A in order to reclaim his position in the Test team. Thakur stated that Sarfaraz can earn a recall from the national team even by doing well in the Ranji Trophy.

Meanwhile, Thakur will also look to deliver with both bat and ball and impress the selectors in order to earn a recall. He has also lost his place in the Test team after the England tour. He played in two of the five Tests against England before being dropped for the two-match series at home against West Indies.
