The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed former Pakistan fast-bowling coach Shaun Tait as their new pace bowling coach, replacing Andre Adams. The 42-year-old former Australian fast bowler has signed a contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board that will keep him in the role until November 2027.

Tait played 59 international matches for Australia across all formats. The former fast bowler took 95 wickets in his career, which spanned more than ten years. Tait was also part of the Australian squad that won the 2007 Cricket World Cup. He also has experience coaching in franchise and international cricket.

“It’s a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now, a bit of a new era if you like. It’s been spoken about many times recently—the young talent with the fast bowlers—which is great," Tait said.

Andre Adams recently concluded his tenure as Bangladesh's pace bowling coach. His departure was a mutual decision between him and the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Adams had stepped into the role after Allan Donald left following the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.

I'm Looking Forward to the Journey Ahead - Shaun Tait

Shaun Tait also highlighted his eagerness to work alongside head coach Phil Simmons, seeing it as a great opportunity and looking forward to the collaboration in the future.

“This is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone expects the talent to bring results, which is very much my focus with the fast bowling group and most importantly, getting more wins for the team," Tait added.

“To have the opportunity to work with Phil Simmons is equally as exciting and I’m looking forward to the journey ahead.”

Bangladesh played a two-match Test series with Zimbabwe. They face the United Arab Emirates in T20 Internationals on May 17 and 19 in Sharjah. These games are seen as preparation ahead of a more demanding tour of Pakistan. They have assignments against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the coming months.

Shaun Tait Brings Extensive Coaching Experience to His New Role with Bangladesh

It’s worth mentioning that Shaun Tait had previously applied for the same position but withdrew his name late in the process. Adams' stint included Bangladesh's underwhelming performances in both the 2024 T20 World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy.

Tait brings extensive coaching experience to his new role with Bangladesh, having worked with multiple international sides including Pakistan, West Indies (Tests), and Afghanistan. He’s also held key coaching roles across major franchise leagues like the BPL, BBL, PSL, LPL, and English county cricket.

Tait recently coached the Chittagong Kings in the BPL and was part of the Karachi Kings staff in the now-postponed PSL 10.
