Former Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan threatened to take legal action against the organizers of the World T20 Continent Cup for including his name without his 'knowledge or permission'. Cricket fans across social media platforms were stunned when they saw that Dhawan was included in a team with several players from Pakistan.

Shikhar Dhawan, through his official post on 'X ', claimed that his name has been included in the Asia Warriors squad without his consent. The organizers of the tournament named the former Punjab Kings skipper as Warriors captain.

Dhawan is among the Indian cricketers who have been very critical of Pakistan since Operation Sindoor in 2025. The Indian government launched the military operation named Operation Sindoor in response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which took many civilians' lives. Since the tragic incident, Dhawan has been maintaining a distance from the neighbouring nation.

Through an 'X' post, the former India opener mentioned that the organisers of the World T20 Continent Cup have used his name without taking permission from him. Therefore, Dhawan is considering taking legal action to address the matter. He urged the media and his fans not to believe the announcement made by the tournament authority.

"I have come across my name as a participant in the World T20 Continent Cup. My name has been used by the organisers without my knowledge or permission, and my team will be taking the appropriate legal steps to address this. I request the media and my fans not to report or rely on any unauthorised announcements. Thank you for your continued love and support," Dhawan wrote in his social media post.

Indian and Pakistani cricketers in the same team!

A couple of days ago, the World T20 Continent Cup announced the full squad on Instagram, mentioning Dhawan as the team's captain. The announced squad had players from countries across Asia. From India, there were Dhawan, Rahul Sharma, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, and Abhimanyu Mithun. And from Pakistan, Sohail Tanvir, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Muhammad Imran Khan were mentioned in the 24-member team.

The squad announced by the T20 league authority:

Upul Tharanga, Dimuth Karunaratne, Dilhara Lokuhettige, Nisala Gamage, Lahiru Thirimanna, Rubel Hossain, Mahmudullah Riyadh, Imrul Kayes, Muhammad Imran Khan, Suraj Kumar, Abhimanyu Mithun, Samiullah Shinwari, Sohaib Maqsood, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Iftikhar Ahmed, Rahul Sharma, Sohail Tanvir, Avishka Perera, Usman Qadir, Shikhar Dhawan.

Shikhar Dhawan called Pakistan 'Ghatiya desh'

As of now, Shikhar Dhawan is the only known name who has raised his voice against the announcement of the squad. It will be interesting to see whether another player from India or any other nation joins hands with the opener.

After the Pahalgam terror attack incident, Shikhar Dhawan used some brutal words to take a jab at Pakistan.

"Ghatiya desh ne fir apna ghatiyapan poori duniya ke aage dikha diya. #Pakistan #Ceasefire," Dhawan had written in another tweet before.
