The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to make a major shuffle in its back office, and former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is reportedly close to getting a role on the board. National and international media reports have claimed that Akhtar has developed a close relationship with PCB head Mohsin Naqvi, and Naqvi was also impressed after a meeting with the Pakistan cricket legend.
A few weeks ago, it was claimed that Naqvi had made up his mind to make changes in his back office too; even Naqvi's close aide, Aaqib Javed's job also, could be at risk.

Quoting a source close to the Pakistan Cricket Board, India Today's report mentioned that a few weeks ago Mohsin Naqvi had an interaction with Shoaib Akhtar. The warm gesture of Naqvi has melted Shoaib Akhtar's mind.
Shoaib Akhtar is known as one of the voices who have been criticizing PCB for a long time. If the reports are to be believed, then Akhtar's point of view has impressed Naqvi, and he is willing to utilise the vision in reality.
"A few weeks back, when Shoaib's elder brother passed away, Mohsin Naqvi had interacted with him closely and was there for him. This gesture impressed Shoaib a lot, who has been a vocal critic of the PCB and Pakistan cricket in the past in his media appearances," the source added.

If things and discussions go well, then Shoaib Akhtar is not very far from securing a major role in the cricket board. It is yet to be confirmed which role the cricket board could appoint the former pacer to. If he joins the team, then he will come with his own set of ideas and conditions, which can be beneficial for the team in the future.
"Shoaib is in line to get a major posting, but obviously when he met with the Chairman he had his own set of ideas and conditions through which he believes Pakistan cricket can be taken forward," he added.
Mohsin Naqvi to consider multiple changes across Pakistan national cricket teams
The recent few setbacks are believed to have hit the Pakistan Cricket Board hard. Whether it was the men's cricket team, the women's or the junior cricket teams, Pakistan cricket was far from its legacy.
The recent whitewash in the Test series against England was one of the major points that reportedly forced Mohsin Naqvi to make major changes in the back office. Not only in the main team, but PCB could also consider removing some of its support members as well. The possible changes will aim to improve the overall performance of the teams.
"The board is working on some plans for the future, and there will be some changes in the cricket think tank soon because the chairman has made it clear that he expects better results from the national men's, women's, Shaheens and junior teams," the source stated.
