The former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar revealed the solution to the conundrum of Babar Azam surpassing the modern-day great Virat Kohli to become the best. It is not going to be easy for the Pakistan skipper Babar Azam to get to the tall landmarks that Kohli has set already with 70 international centuries but certainly, Babar has the potential.

Kohli has been an instrumental figure in Indian cricket for a long time now and he has been breaking record after record which has put him in sight of the 100 international centuries record held by Sachin Tendulkar. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Babar Azam has got to 20 international centuries and he still has a long way to go.

Shoaib Akhtar Expects Virat Kohli To Reach At least 120 International Centuries

Shoaib Akhtar mentioned that Virat Kohli will add 50 more centuries to his tally in the next years, and felt that this record is going to be very hard to break. He added that Babar Azam could prove to be a healthy competition with an excellent start to his international career so far and the age factor could also be a big thing.

“Virat has what… 70 centuries in international cricket right. So in the next five years, he will get 30 more and I want him to get 120 centuries, or at least 110. See, with these many runs, who can be compared to him? The debate in itself is wrong. And Babar is now coming through. It’s really good that there is healthy competition,” Akhtar told on SportTak Youtube Channel.

“We Will Judge Kohli And Babar After 10 Years” – Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar also revealed what Babar Azam must do to surpass Virat Kohli as the greatest modern-day batsman. He told that Babar has to play a lot more match-winning innings while chasing like Virat did all these years and added that the possibility of Babar becoming the greatest batsman from Pakistan is better than Babar beating Virat’s records.

“If Babar needs to beat Virat and surpass him, he will have to score more runs chasing and play the kind of innings Kohli has. There is no doubt that Babar Azam can probably be the greatest batsman of Pakistan, but it will take time. We will judge Kohli and Babar after 10 years where they stand,” Shoaib Akhtar added.
