Shoaib Malik Scripts History, Joins Chris Gayle In Elite T20 List Post 3rd Marriage Announcement

Pakistan cricket team batsman Shoaib Malik has been part of the headlines these days due to his third marriage and also the separation rumors with his second wife and Indian Tennis player Sania Mirza. Malik on Saturday, January 20, 2024, announced his third marriage with famous Pakistani actress Sana Javed. Malik is also the second husband of Javed and she was firstly married to Umair Jaswal.

Shoaib Malik has had a brilliant stint with the Pakistani cricket team and is still one of the most demanding players on the side. Though, Malik is now mostly seen playing club cricket in different T20 leagues of the world. Shoaib Malik is currently part of the Bangladesh Premier League and is playing for the Fortune Barishwal in the BPL.

During the BPL 2024 match between Fortune Barishal and Rangpur Riders, Shoaib Malik achieved a major feat in T20 cricket. Malik played an unbeaten knock of 17 runs against Rangpur Riders and became the first Asian player to score 13000 runs in T20 cricket. He also joined the ‘Universe Boss’ and veteran West Indies batsman Chris Gayle in the elite list as the batting great was the first player to achieve this feat.

Getting back to the match details, the Rangpur Riders put up a score of 134/9 in 20 overs while batting first at the Sher E Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. Riders didn’t start well against Fortune Barishal and lost their first wicket for 0 as Brandon King walked back for a duck. Rony Talukdar was the second batsman to get dismissed for 5 runs whereas Shakib Al Hasan was only able to score 2 runs.

Afghani players Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi were also not able to do much and departed for 6 and 10 runs respectively. Captain Nurul Hasan, Mahedi Hasan, and Shamim Hossain played cameo knocks of 25 to 30 runs and helped the team reach a score of 134/9.

Khaled Ahmed picked up 4 wickets for Barishal whereas, Mehidy Hasan Miraz ended up with 2 wickets. Dunith Wellalage and Mohammad Imran picked up 1 wicket each.

Chasing down the target, Tamim Iqbal and Ibrahim Zadran added 32 runs for the first wicket. Iqbal and Zadran departed for 35 and 12 runs respectively, Mehidy Hasan Miraz played a cameo innings of 20 runs from 18 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim was able to score 26 runs, however, in the end, Mahmudullah and Shoaib Malik finished the match for Fortune Barishal.

Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza married in the year 2010 and used to live in Dubai. However, for a long time, they have been living alone and their son Izhaan lives with Sania.

Shoaib Malik has already announced retirement from the Test and ODI format but continues to play T20 cricket for the country. Malik was part of Pakistan’s squad in the 2021 T20 World Cup and will want to make a place in the squad of the T20 World Cup 2024.
