Shoaib Malik to replace Usman Wahla as PCB Director of Cricket? Shocking report emerges

Usman Wahla, PCB Director of International Cricket, is likely to be removed from his role following an NOC dispute with Pakistan cricketer Usama Mir. Former cricketer Shoaib Malik is in line to replace Wahla in this role.

Recently, a dispute between former Pakistan quick Wahab Riaz and Usman Wahla gained public attention on social media. The dispute had emerged due to the denial of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Usama Mir.

Dispute between Usman Wahla and Wahab Riaz

Wahab Riaz was a member of the PCB selection committee a few months ago. He was removed from the role after Pakistan's dismal performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. Recently, Wahab slammed Wahla for ignoring requests from Usama Mir regarding the NOC.

According to Wahab, Usama Mir made multiple attempts to contact Wahla regarding the NOC but to no avail. He even claimed to come back with the whole story through proof. “Screenshots and emails don’t lie, I will tell the full story,” Wahab stated.

However, Wahla came back and denied the allegations of ignoring Usama Mir. He claimed that the discussions with the legspinner had already happened. Wahab Riaz retorted by claiming that he had the proof to support his statement.

“I have a lot to say. If anyone denies this, I will provide all the evidence,” Wahab added.

According to Cricket Pakistan, the PCB is reported to have been disappointed with the performance of Usman Wahla and his role as a Director of international cricket in Pakistan. Hence, they are set to remove Wahla and appoint a new person for this role.

Shoaib Malik to replace Usman Wahla?

While Usman Wahla is likely to be removed, it remains to be seen who replaces him in this role. Former allrounder Shoaib Malik is in the line to replace him and is reportedly trying his best.

During a show 'Caught Behind', senior journalist Dr. Nauman Niaz and former cricketer Rashid Latif were discussing about the future of Wahla and the role of the Director of Cricket in Pakistan.

Dr. Nauman Niaz revealed the news that Shoaib Malik is trying hard to secure the position of Director of International Cricket in PCB. Niaz also claimed that Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Malik are working together and want to replace Usman Wahla.

The politics in Pakistan cricket is going from bad to worse. The performance of the cricket team is also following the same path. The chairmen of the PCB are often replaced in a few months which does not allow the system to settle down.

Pakistan are currently playing a Test series against England at home. The Men in Green lost the first Test badly and are trailing 0-1 in the three-match Test series. The second Test will be played on the same pitch at Multan from October 15-19.

Recently, the new selection committee dropped Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah from the second and third Tests due to poor form and fitness concerns.
