Australia star batter Marnus Labuschagne was named as the captain of Hyderabad Kingsmen, which is also referred to as Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen. In the upcoming Pakistan Super League season (PSL 2026), the Aussie star will be the captain of the newly formed team.
The New franchise, which is based in Hyderabad, Sindh, is all set to make its debut in the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League. The FKS Group has invested PKR 1.75 billion to play in the T20 league in Pakistan.

Marnus Labuschagne will lead Hyderabad Kingsmen in the PSL 11 season
As the head coach of the team, the franchise signed former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie. The Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad, Pakistan, is selected as their home ground. Along with Marnus Labuschagne, Australia star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, and Pakistan international all-rounder Saim Ayub are some of their top signings.
Hyderabad Kingsmen will play their first-ever PSL match against Lahore Qalandars in Lahore on March 26, with less than a couple of weeks to go before their opening match in the tournament.
PSL 2026 is expected to be more competitive with new additions
The upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League is scheduled to start from March 26, a couple of days before the opening match of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL 2026). For the 2026 season, Pakistan's own T20 franchise league will have a total of 9 teams, which are—
Karachi Kings, Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen, Rawalpindi (Rawalpindi), Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans (briefly Sialkot Stallionz), Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, and Lahore Qalandars.
This year, the tournament will begin with two different groups for the primary stage— Group A and Group B. Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, and Hyderabad Kingsmen are named in Group A, while Group B contains Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and Rawalpindi Pindiz.
In the group stage, every team will play a total of 6 matches, which means, they will have to face a team twice. The top teams will advance into the playoffs, which include a qualifier, two eliminators, and the final. The Final match of the PSL 11 season will be held on May 3.
For their maiden PSL season, Hyderabad Kingsmen have signed Marnus Labuschagne, Sri Lankan star keeper-batter Kusal Perera, USA batter Shayan Jahangir, Australia star Glenn Maxwell, South Africa bowler Ottneil Baartman, and Australian bowler Riley Meredith as their overseas recruits.
Marnus Labuschagne has been struggling with his form
It will be interesting to see how Marnus Labuschagne performs with the new franchise. In the recent past, the batter has not been at the peak of his form. Before a couple of underwhelming matches for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield, the batter smashed a century against South Australia. In his last 10 matches, Marnus Labuschagne scored one century only, and no half-century to go with.
