What is the main cause behind the controversy related to Naseem Shah?
PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the interior minister of the government, announced that due to the limited amount of fuel for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the West Asia crisis, the PSL 2026 matches would be held without any spectators at the venues.
Though there are a few dignitaries there at the Gaddafi Stadium for the opening match of the league. Among the notable guests, Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the niece of current Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, was there.
Maryam arrived at the stadium with heavy security protection that comprised several cars. She met with the Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen players as well.
Shah apparently criticized a high-profile politician of Pakistan
Meanwhile, from Naseem Shah's official 'X', "Why is she treated like the Queen at Lord's?", the post was shared, which was removed soon. For clarification, the cricketer claimed that his account was hacked.
PCB did not encourage Shah's clarification and accused him of "violating the terms of his central contract". The board issued a show-cause notice as well. It is yet to be clear which terms and conditions he exactly violated.
Backlashes after the controversial social media post
According to an ESPN report, "It appears to do with clause 2.23 of the PCB's code of conduct. It states that any "public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to the Board, any of its officials or sponsors or policies, the ICC or any of its officers or sponsors, Player, Player Support Personnel or Match Officials including umpires and match referees, irrespective of when such criticism or inappropriate comment is made" is not permitted."
There are strong reports that PCB has taken strong steps against Naseem Shah for expressing his political views. Did he abduct? As of now, this claim on social media is looked at as false.
