Paranjape added, “I thought he could have played a little more because he was batting superbly. You know, he’d score 10 or 15 or 20, but that hook shot—that was his trademark. Amazing.”
Before winning the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, Rohit won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. As a captain, Rohit led India to two ICC titles and also guided the Mumbai Indians to five IPL trophies.

Rohit Sharma's ODI return delayed as BCCI likely to drop SLC's proposal
Meanwhile, fans will have to wait longer for Rohit Sharma’s return in the ODI colors. As reported by Khel Now, the proposed white-ball series by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has been dropped, delaying the Hitman’s return once again after the Bangladesh tour was also postponed earlier.
Recently, India’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh was pushed to September 2026 due to security concerns. After which, SLC had offered to host India for three ODIs and three T20Is in August 2025, but the BCCI has almost turned down the proposal due to the Asia Cup 2025.
A BCCI official said, “We will decide about the series, but it looks unlikely.”
Rohit will now shift his focus to India’s upcoming ODI matches against Australia in October and South Africa later this year in November and December. India will play three ODIs against Australia and South Africa each. The Hitman has been one of India’s best ODI players.
The right-handed batter has so far amassed 11,168 runs in 273 matches, including 32 centuries. His top score of 264 is the highest ever by any player in ODI cricket history.
