Pakistan National Cricket Team spinner Abrar Ahmed shared his experience bowling to Virat Kohli during the game between arch-rivals in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The match between the two teams took place on Sunday (23rd February) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
India National Cricket Team and Pakistan National Cricket Team were involved in a high-octane clash during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, the game saw the Indian dominance as the Rohit Sharma-led side went on to win the game easily by a massive margin of 6 wickets.
Pakistan National Cricket Team had a poor outing with the bat and ball throughout the game. They didn't look settled as they first got all out for just 241 runs and then failed to put pressure on the Indian batters with the ball.
With the Pakistan National Cricket Team displaying a poor effort, there was only one positive for them, and that was spinner Abrar Ahmed. The mystery spinner came up with a terrific effort and was the only bowler that troubled the India National Cricket Team batters.
Abrar Ahmed returned with the figures of 1/28 against India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Abrar Ahmed restricted the run flow and also went on to pick the wicket of Shubman Gill. It was a magical delivery that pitched up on the leg stump and then turned sharply to hit the off-stump and send the batter packing and also gave him a fiery send-off.
Abrar Ahmed returned with the figures of 1/28 as he bowled with an economy of just 2.8. Not only were his figures impressive, but he was also lauded by India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli for his heroics. The batter, who was batting at that time, went to the bowler and applauded him. Notably, earlier in the same match, Abrar sledged Kohli but the India great simply ignored him.
Grateful for his appreciation—his greatness as a cricketer is only matched by his humility as a person - Abrar Ahmed makes U-turn on Virat Kohli
Abrar Ahmed, however, acknowledged that moment, and days after that match between India and Pakistan, he has reacted to it. The spinner spoke about his experience playing with his childhood hero, Virat Kohli, and said that he was grateful that the batter applauded him. Taking to his Instagram account, he said:
"Bowling to my childhood hero Virat Kohli. Grateful for his appreciation—his greatness as a cricketer is only matched by his humility as a person. A true inspiration on and off the field!"

Virat Kohli was the star for India with the bat
While Abrar was shining light for Pakistan, Virat Kohli was the star with the bat for India. The batter slammed his 51st century in ODIs and ended with the innings of unbeaten 100 runs off 111 balls.
The right-hander batted with a strike rate of over 90 and also slammed 7 fours in his innings to take the India National Cricket Team home with 6 wickets.
