"Shouldn't Be Difficult For..." : Alex Hales On Deepti Sharma's Run Out of Charlotte Dean

Deepti Sharma’s way of getting rid of Charlotte Dean has been raising eyebrows. There’s no doubt that Mankad is a legal way of getting the batter out, but quite a few experts are saying that it’s against the spirit of the game. It would be interesting to see whether the ICC changes its rules after criticism.

England Women’s Team would be crestfallen as chasing 170 is not a tough task to accomplish. Losing a match at Lord’s is quite embarrassing; it was the same place where they won World Cup in 2017. England Women need to find a way to rotate the strike as playing a string of dot balls is not a good sign.

Alex Hales made an interesting remark which was quite in favor of the runout. “It shouldn’t be difficult for the nonstriker to stay in their crease til the ball has left the hand.”

Poor Series for England Women

The hosts were unable to carry the momentum of the T20I series victory into the ODI format. It looked as if the England Women’s Team was not prepared for this challenge. This ODI Series was a part of the ODI Championship and this series would have hurt the hosts a lot. The hosts need to find batters who can stick to the crease and play long & effective innings rather than scoring 20-30 odd runs.

India on the other side would be delighted as they gave their bowling legend Jhulan Goswami a befitting farewell. The pacer has been quite key to India’s success for a long time. India would be aware that they almost made a mess out of the 3rd ODI match and they would be keen to rectify their mistakes of not wrapping up the game quickly. It won’t be wrong to say that India Women’s Team has a strong camaraderie as they find match-winners quite easily.
