Shreyas Iyer got a chance to play for India in the 2014 Under-19 World Cup. He took full advantage of this opportunity and scored 5 consecutive half-centuries in the 2014 Under-19 World Cup. In 2014, Shreyas Iyer got a chance to play for the United Kingdom Trent Bridge cricket team. Iyer played three matches and scored 297 runs at an average of 99. After which Shreyas Iyer started his List A cricket career for the Mumbai cricket team by playing in the 2014-15 Vijay Hazare Trophy. In that tournament, he scored 273 runs at an average of 54.60. Shreyas Iyer made his IPL debut in 2015. Shreyas was bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 2.6 crore in the 2015 IPL auction. In this way, Iyer became the most expensive uncapped player in the tournament. That season, he won the hearts of the fans by scoring 439 runs in 14 matches at an average of 33.76 and a strike rate of 128.36. T20Is:
Shreyas Iyer’s strong performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and IPL caught the attention of the selectors and he was selected in the Indian team for the T20 series against New Zealand. Shreyas Iyer made his international debut in T20 against New Zealand on 1 November 2017. However, Shreyas did not get a chance to bat in his first T20 match. In the next match, Iyer scored 23 runs in 21 balls. Whereas in the deciding match of the series, Iyer scored only 6 runs. It took him 10 innings to score his first half-century in T20 International. Iyer scored his first T20I half-century against Bangladesh in November 2019 and India won the match by 30 runs.
