Meanwhile, the BCCI is considering Shreyas Iyer as the next ODI captain. According to a Dainik Jagran report, both formal and informal discussions have already taken place regarding the future of the team in all three formats of the game.
The BCCI is no longer keen on burdening a single player with captaincy across formats due to the packed schedule. It is being said that Iyer might get the chance to lead the ODI side as early as the Australia series in October. However, it depends largely on the future of current skipper Rohit Sharma.
