The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has punished Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Shreyas was fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday, April 30.

Punjab secured a four-wicket victory in the 49th match of IPL 2025. However, Shreyas Iyer’s side was penalised for a slow over-rate. The on-field umpires, Akshay Totre and Anish Sahasrabudhe, deemed that PBKS were behind in their over-rate, allowing just four fielders outside the circle for the final over.

Punjab Kings Eye Top-Two Finish in IPL 2025 Standings

With this win, Punjab Kings moved from fifth to second place with 13 points from 10 matches. They need just two more wins to likely secure a playoff spot. If they manage to win all four of their remaining fixtures, they could finish in the top two places, giving them more opportunities to reach the final in the marquee event.

They are aiming to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2014, when they last made it to the final. The Shreyas Iyer-led team will play their next three games in Dharamshala, their second home. They will face Lucknow Super Giants on May 4, followed by Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 8, and Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 11.
