The India vs England third Test of the series at Lord's might have been the most animated Test of the series, but in the background, it turned out to be a special event with the Indian as well as the England players supporting the Red For Ruth charity.

Indian Test captain Shubman Gill's jersey in the Lord's Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy has been auctioned for £4,600 (around Rs 5.41 lakh) in the Budds auction. It derived the highest price from the loads of match memorabilia, which also included other signed shirts and caps from both players, portraits, bats, and more from both teams.
The description for the shirt worn by Shubman Gill, on the auction site, gave an idea of the image he has in the country. It read:
“This special-edition shirt, worn in support of the Ruth Strauss Foundation, features the official India Test crest and shows visible signs of match wear, with staining and unwashed."
Gill, renowned for his graceful stroke play and calm temperament, is one of the brightest talents in world cricket. Shirt is unwashed and match worn—a rare collector’s item from a memorable day at the Home of Cricket."
After the skipper, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja, the two other Indian greats, were the joint second-highest on the auction list, with their signed shirts being picked for £4,200 (around Rs 4.94 lakh). KL Rahul, the Indian opener, followed with his range going up to £4,000 (around Rs 4.70 lakh).

Not only the Shubman Gill and Indian players but also the English players auctioned their items in the Budds auction to support the Red For Ruth Charity. For England, Joe Root's signed jersey fetched the highest bid at £3,800 (around Rs 4.47 lakhs).
He was followed by the England skipper Ben Stokes for £3,400 (around Rs 4 lakhs). Among the caps, the one signed by English veteran Joe Root was sold off for the highest price at £3,000 (around Rs 3.52 lakhs).
Among Indians, wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant, who received immense love from the English spectators after his bold show at Lord's and Manchester, earned the bid for £1,500 (around Rs 1.76 lakhs) for his signed cap.
What is the Red For Ruth Foundation? - Know Details
The Red for Ruth Day is an initiative by the Ruth Strauss Foundation, founded by former England skipper Andrew Strauss and named after his wife, Ruth Strauss, who died of lung cancer.
The foundation aims to raise awareness and funds for families facing the loss of a parent to cancer, specifically non-smoking lung cancer. It takes place annually at Lord's Cricket Ground during a Test match between England and India, with spectators encouraged to wear red.
The reports claim that the foundation has assisted over 3500 family members of deceased cancer individuals and trained more than 1000 Cancer care professionals.
