The Indian team's skipper, Shubman Gill, has had a medical bulletin released by the BCCI after he was admitted to the hospital overnight. His recovery is unlikely in this Test and will likely remain so for the next match at Guwahati.
India clashed against South Africa for the First Test match of the series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The first Test's proceedings began on the 14th of November and are expected to end very soon on the third day of the match.
South African skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and opted to bat first against the mighty Indian bowling attack, which comprised four spinners on show on a subcontinent track. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja so far have been the picks among the Indian bowlers.
Shubman Gill's ultimate medical bulletin revealed
Amid the match being inclined towards the Indians, they have faced a major setback during the First Test. Skipper Shubman Gill, who came out to bat in the first session of day 2, had to be stretchered to the hospital after he left the field due to neck spasms following a 3-ball stay.
Shubman Gill did not return to the field for the fielding session as well, and vice-captain Rishabh Pant took charge of the India team. Later, it was reported that after much delay, Shubman Gill was finally admitted to a hospital in Kolkata.
A detailed report from RevSportz revealed that he has been admitted under Dr. Saptarshi Basi, and a precautionary medical board has also been formed, which includes a critical care specialist, neurosurgeon, neurologist, and cardiologist.
The report further confirms that Shubman Gill will be staying in the hospital and will no longer have a role to play in this Test any further.

India skipper unlikely for the Second Test at Guwahati
It was worth noting that the Indian skipper did not take the field on Day 3 as well and has been admitted to the Woodlands Hospital in Kolkata. Some NDTV sources had confirmed that he was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but only for observatory reasons.
India's second Test begins on the 22nd of November; that is, on Saturday next week, and hence the final decision over Gill's availability is yet to be made; however, an initial scare has already been revealed.
"It will depend on the speed of his recovery, and it is impossible to say for sure either way at this point. There is doubt but hope he recovers faster than expected and makes it back," said the RevSportz report on his availability for the Guwahati Test.
India to register 5th straight win in this WTC cycle
India rattled the Proteas batting order on both occasions in Kolkata, and hence, despite their own batting collapse, they did not fail at taking the upper hand in the match. South Africa were down by 7 wickets in their second innings on Day 2, and India needs just 3 more wickets to expose their tail.
Though with skipper Bavuma and Corbin Bosch stabilizing things for South Africa on Day 3, the game is quite in the grip of the Men with Baggy blue. At the time of writing, the Proteas extended their lead to 100, with three wickets still remaining.
