India National Cricket Team vice-captain Shubman Gill missed the second T20I against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The rain-curtailed match took place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on Sunday (28th July).

Shubman Gill wasn't part of the XI as at the toss skipper Suryakumar Yadav revealed that the vice-captain of the teams has been battling with neck spasm. The batter woke up in the morning and experienced stiffness and later was deemed unfit to play in the second game of the series.

In his place, Sanju Samson was drafted into the team and was asked to open the batting. The move didn't work as the batter bagged a golden duck. He got out on the first ball of the second over to Maheesh Theekshana, who castled his stumps with a fiery ball.

With the third T20I between India and Sri Lanka around the corner, there are a lot of speculations about whether Shubman Gill will be fit for the last game or not. So far, there hasn't been any official confirmation about the same, but various media reports have given an update about the same.

As per the reports in Revsportz, it is learned that the availability of Shubman Gill for the third T20I against Sri Lanka will be dependent on his health situation. The batter will be assessed before the game and subject to his fitness, a call on his availability will be made a couple of hours before the match. The young batter is currently being monitored by the medical team.

Shubman Gill played a crucial role for India in the first T20I. The opening batter batted with great intent and scored 34 runs off just 15 balls. His valuable start allowed India to post a total of over 200 runs and then win the game by the margin of 43 runs to start the series on high.

If Shubman Gill gets a thumbs-up from the medical team, then there will be no doubt that he will walk straight into the XI. There can be a possibility of team management giving him rest, especially with him being part of the ODI series as well.

If Shubman Gill is deemed unfit to play or is given rest for the last game, it is likely that Sanju Samson will be playing the game. The keeper-batter, having scored a duck in the second game, would want to get some runs under his belt and make his case strong.

India seal the series with a lead of 2-0

India have already won the three-match T20I series after their two fantastic wins in the first two games. They were sensational with the bat and ball in the first match. After posting 213 runs, they came under pressure but pulled back things incredibly well to win the game.

In the second game, they bowled well upfront and restricted Sri Lanka to 161 runs. With the target revised to 78 in 8 overs, India chased the target in 6.3 overs and won the game by 7 wickets to take an unassailable lead of 2-0
