Shubman Gill's India to prepare one of greenest home pitches in years vs West Indies

A seam-friendly pitch backfired last time India played on their home turf; however, marking the absence of West Indies frontline seamers, Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph, the Shubman Gill-led Indian side is all set to prepare one of the greenest pitches in their history.
India are all set to host the West Indies for a 2-match Test series, which is set to begin on the 2nd of October. This will mark the second red-ball series for India in this WTC cycle after they played against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy.
The West Indies, on the other side, played their previous Test series against Australia, where they faced a humiliating low after being bowled out for 27 runs in an innings by Australia in the final innings of the last Test.
Shubman Gill led India to prepare the most green cover in Ahmedabad for the first Test
India could play the first Test of their two-match series against the West Indies on one of the greenest home pitches of recent seasons. Just a day before the First test begins at Ahmedabad, the pitch had a lush and even green covering.
ESPNcricinfo reported that some of it might get trimmed by the time the match begins; however, around 4-5 mm of grass could still remain. The primary reason for this grass cover might be the composition of the soil.
Usually, the Stadium is known to have both black and red soil tracks. The red-soil pitch picked for this match offers excellent bounce and carry when grass holds it together. Another reason for the pitch looking as green as it did was the pitch remaining under covers over the last few days.

A set of injuries in the West Indies camp rules out the possibility of a Green pitch domination
If the West Indies had their original squad to choose from, then India might not be looking forward to the same green pitch, as they could have picked a potent pace trio of Jayden Seales, Shamar Joseph, and Alzarri Joseph to go toe-to-toe with the Indian team.
However, both Josephs are lost to injuries by the West Indies, which leaves them with substantially depleted pace resources. The current pace bowling deck in the Windies lineup would include Seales and the all-rounder Justin Greaves, joined by Anderson Phillip. They will be joined further by the uncapped pair of Johann Layne and Jediah Blades.
The weakened West Indies attack might be the reason that contributes to more grass being left on the surface than it otherwise would. Captain Shubman Gill might be looking forward to creating some pressure on the Indian team.
Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna steam in at the Ahmedabad nets
The Shubman Gill-led Indian side will comprise the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna as the frontline pacers alongside the red-ball maestro Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah will be back in action after having missed out on the final Test against England at The Oval.
On the other hand, Siraj and Krishna had both picked most of the wickets against England in the final match, as they defended one of the lowest targets on the final day of the Oval Test. Siraj has been steaming in the nets alongside Prasidh Krishna, as they often troubled the likes of Shubman Gill and test openers Yashasvi Jaiswal as well as KL Rahul.
Shubman Gill's team might place either both or any one of these two pacers alongside Jasprit Bumrah.
