SLC Worried About Increase In Covid Cases Ahead Of India Series

The proliferation of Covid-19 and its different variants has caused havoc around the world with millions of people succumbing to the disease.

Cricket, just like other facets of life, has been severely affected by Covid-19 with a plethora of series getting postponed or canceled.

India is currently grappling with the second wave of the deadly contagion with lakes of covid positive cases emerging on a daily basis.

India was hit with the second wave of Covid during the second week of April and it was around the same time that the 14th season of the Indian Premier League kickstarted.

The IPL went on for three weeks before the bio bubble breached and several positive cases rocked the tournament.
Team India will be traveling to Sri Lanka with its second-string team to take part in an ODI and T20I series.
And, so, with the players coming from a country already plagued with the virus, Sri Lanka, which is also seeing a surge in Covid cases, is worried about the viability of pulling off the series.

‘Increase in Covid-19 cases are a big worry but we have successfully hosted England and others during Covid times and we are confident we will be able to host India as well, just keeping fingers crossed that cases don’t increase,” a senior official from SLC told the portal.
