Smriti Mandhana and Chamari Athapaththu reach career highs in ICC Women's T20I Rankings post Women’s Asia Cup 2024

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday, July 30, released the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings, where the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 participants saw major gains, including India opener Smriti Mandhana and Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu.

Apart from Mandhana and Athapaththu, several international cricketers achieved career-high rankings in the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings after their impressive performances in the recent Women's Asia Cup 2024, which won the hosts Sri Lanka Women recently.

Mandhana, who played a brilliant knock of 60 runs in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 final for the Indian women’s cricket team against Sri Lanka, has reached a new career-best ranking in the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings for the batters on Tuesday.

The left-handed Indian opener has moved to the fourth spot with a one-place gain in the latest ICC rankings for the batters. She is behind Australia's Beth Mooney, Tahlia McGrath, and West Indies' Hayley Matthews in the rankings. Mandhana is the only Indian batter in the Top-10 batters.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka women’s cricket team captain, Chamari Athapaththu, has also made significant strides, climbing three positions to secure sixth place in the T20I batters rankings. Athapaththu's exceptional performance in the recent Women’s Asia Cup 2024 propelled her to a career-high ranking.

Athapaththu scored 304 runs at an average over 100 in the Asia Cup 2024 and won the Player of the Tournament award. Pakistan's Muneeba Ali also made a significant rise, moving up six places to 35th in the T20I batting rankings thanks to her impressive performances in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024.

Other notable movers are Bangladesh’s Nigar Sultana, who climbed three spots to 14th, Sri Lanka's Harshitha Samarawickrama, who moved up three places to 20th, and Pakistan's Gull Feroza, who jumped 32 positions to 64th in the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings for the batters.

In the ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings for the bowlers, Pakistan's Sadia Iqbal achieved a career-high rating, rising to fourth place following her eight-wicket haul at the Women’s Asia Cup 2024, where she averaged just 8.37 runs per wicket.

India's Renuka Singh also made progress, climbing four places to fifth with seven wickets at an average of 13.14 in the tournament. Radha Yadav also improved her position by seven spots, moving to 13th in the T20I bowling rankings.

Sri Lankan bowlers Udeshika Prabodhani, Sugandika Kumari, and Kavisha Dilhari also made notable improvements in the rankings. Prabodhani moved up six places to a tie for 24th, Kumari rose four places to 27th, and Dilhari improved five spots to a tie for 30th.

Dilhari also made stunning progress in the T20I All-Rounder rankings, climbing 10 places to 17th overall, thanks to her strong all-around performances in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024. West Indies megastar Hayley Matthews is the top all-rounder in the T20I All-Rounder rankings, with Deepti Sharma being the only all-rounder from India in the top-10.
