India Women’s National Cricket Team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has added another huge achievement to her already brilliant career on Tuesday, September 22. Smriti Mandhana scripted history by becoming the first woman cricketer in the world to score 11,000 international runs.
The 30-year-old left-handed batter reached the landmark during the women's cricket competition at the Asian Games 2026 between the India Women’s National Cricket Team and the Sri Lanka Women’s National Cricket Team at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
Smriti Mandhana becomes first woman cricketer to complete 11,000 international runs
Smriti Mandhana needed only 13 runs to reach the massive milestone, and she completed it in just 10 balls in the ongoing Asian Games 2026 clash against Sri Lanka at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
Mandhana wasted no time in showing her attacking intent as she smashed the first six of the game against Sri Lanka bowler Sugandika Kumari. She went onto the back foot and played a powerful flat-batted shot over mid-on. The ball sailed over the boundary as the Indian opener picked up her first six of the innings in style to script the history in women’s cricket.
With this achievement, Mandhana has become the first woman player in the world to reach 11,000 international runs, strengthening her position as one of the biggest names in women's cricket. She already holds the record for the most international centuries in women's cricket with 18 hundreds.

Mandhana’s milestone is special as she has become the first Indian woman cricketer to cross the 11,000-run mark in all formats. With this achievement, the Indian batting has also become the all-time leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket.
Smriti Mandhana has built a remarkable international career across all three formats with India. In 9 Women’s Tests, she has scored 788 runs with two centuries and four fifties. In 120 Women’s ODIs, she has so far amassed 5,411 runs, including 14 centuries and 30 fifties.
Mandhana has scored 4,788 runs with the help of two centuries and 26 fifties in 178 T20Is. Amid this, Hemang Badani lost CSK head coach race to Zaheer Khan because of this reason.

Meanwhile, India has made a powerful start against Sri Lanka in the gold-medal match of the women's cricket competition at the Asian Games 2026 at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
After Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and decided to bat first, openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma came out attacking from the start in Nisshin. Mandhana once again showed her class on a big stage as she smashed a brilliant half-century in just 30 balls.
The experienced Indian batter looked in excellent touch and played a crucial knock for the team. Shafali was dismissed for 48 runs off 29 balls, while Mandhana already smashed 60* runs as India reached 99/1 in 10 overs against Sri Lanka in the gold-medal match.
India are also the defending Asian Games champions. The Indian women's team won the gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023, and they are now aiming to retain the top prize. This was a repeat of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final where India had thrashed Sri Lanka earlier this month.
