England Women's National Cricket Team player Sophie Ecclestone achieved a massive feat in the history of international cricket. She is just behind the likes of Muttiah Muralitharan and Bishan Bedi in an elite list of bowlers with the most consecutive innings taking a wicket in the game.
Sophie Ecclestone has achieved the feat in 34 straight innings in her international cricket. Her streak ended during the recently concluded 5th T20I against New Zealand Women's National Cricket Team. The match between the two teams took place on Wednesday (17th July) at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London.
Sophie Ecclestone went wicketless in the 5th T20I against the New Zealand Women's National Cricket Team and this was the first time in 34 innings that she failed to a wicket in the game. Since the last year, she has made sure she steps up for her team and picks a wicket at least whenever she's on the field.
Sophie Ecclestone didn't have a great outing with the ball during the game against New Zealand in the 5th T20I. She bowled poor lines and lengths as Kiwi batters cashed on that and took her to the cleaners. She came into the attack late and that didn't help as batters were set and showed no mercy.
In the 4 overs that she bowled, Sophie Ecclestone gave away 30 runs and had an economy over around 8. However, thankfully her going wicketless didn't cost the England Women's National Cricket Team much as the rest of the bowlers chipped in and helped them to win the game.
Lauren Bell was the pick of the bowlers as she bowled 4 overs and gave away 23 runs, taking three crucial wickets for her team. Apart from her, Freya Kamp and Charlotte Dean bagged two wickets each while Lauren Filer picked one wicket as England restricted New Zealand to a total of 134 runs to win the game by 20 runs.
Earlier with the bat, England had a decent outing with the bat. Alice Capsley (25), played a decent hand while batting at No.3, but the real blitz came from skipper Heather Knight. She slammed an unbeaten 46 runs off 31 balls and was supported well by Charlie Dean (24) as England posted a total of 155/7.
England Women's National Cricket Team completed the whitewash in the five-match T20I series against the New Zealand Women's National Cricket Team. They started the series on high as they won the first game by a massive margin of 59 runs and then registered 23 runs in the second game.
In the third T20I, England Women's National Cricket Team bagged a 6-wicket win to seal the series. But they didn't stop there as after that they registered a 7-wicket win before thrashing the New Zealand Women's National Cricket Team by 20 runs to win the series by the margin of 5-0.

Bishan Bedi holds the record for taking wickets in the most consecutive innings. He took wickets in 46 consecutive innings and is followed by Nepal spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who achieved the feat 43 times. Dennis Lilee and Muttiah Muralitharan are also on the list along with Sophie Ecclestone.
