Former India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly took to his Twitter and announced that a biopic will be made on his journey as a cricketer which will be produced by Luv Films. Ganguly is widely considered as one of the best left-handed batsmen in the world and inarguably one of the best captains India has produced.

Ganguly had made his India debut in ODIs in the 1991-92 season against the West Indies in the tri-series in Australia. However, after a couple of poor performances, he was discarded and was only brought back to the national team in 1996 when India toured England.

The left-hander from Bengal made his Test debut at Lord’s and scored a century and repeated the feat in the next Test match as well, becoming only the second Indian batsman after Mohammed Azharuddin to score centuries in his first two Test matches.

He then went onto cement his place in the Indian team in both formats till 2005. He was made India captain in 2000 in the aftermath of the match-fixing scandal and shaped a young and energetic Indian team that could give the best teams in the world strong competition in their own backyard.

Ganguly saw turmoil in his cricketing career as Greg Chappell and he clashed on various issues and he was dropped as captain and from the team altogether. He made a triumphant comeback into the team in 2007 but called time on his career in 2008.

The cricketer, loving called ‘Dada’, moved onto administration as he was named the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal and subsequently was elected as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and has taken the Indian team to new highs by giving the captain and coach all the backing they need.
