Great news for former India captain Saurav Ganguly on his birthday. It is reported that the former India captain and the former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to be named in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Hall of Fame.
Gauram Gupta, a Times of India journalist, has shared the update on his social media account ‘X’. “Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is set to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame; what great news on his birthday,” the social media post reads.

Sourav Ganguly's notable stint with the ICC and the BCCI
It is worth mentioning that Ganguly served as the 35th President of the BCCI from October 23, 2019, to October 18, 2022, before another former India cricketer, Roger Binny, took over the charge from him.
According to previous rumours, Ganguly was in the race to become the head of the ICC as well. But, in reality, he held the position of Chairperson of the ICC Men's Cricket Committee from November 17, 2021, re-appointed in April 2025.

Sourav Ganguly turns 54 today, and from early this morning, he received multiple pieces of good news, including the news of his induction into the ICC Hall of Fame. In another significant update, it is widely reported that the makers of Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story unveiled the first look poster to mark this day special.
It is a much-awaited biopic, based on the life events of Ganguly, where Bollywood star Rajkummar Rao will be seen playing the former India captain's role on the big screen. Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story is scheduled to release in theatres on May 14, 2027, during the extended Eid holiday weekend.
CAB awarded for producing best pitch and ground during the IPL 2026 season
Currently, Sourav Ganguly is leading the office of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) with his years of experience in multiple leadership roles on and off the field. During the previous edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Eden Gardens pitch become a center of the stage as some cricket fans raised their fingers against the nature of the surface.
Despite the off-the-ground buzz, CAB remained calm and focused, and at the end of the season, Eden Gardens in Kolkata was officially awarded the Best Pitch and Ground of the Season for the 2026 Tata IPL.
Ganguly officially returned as the President of CAB in 2025, taking over the helm from his older brother, Snehashish Ganguly. It is his second stint as the head of the state cricket board, as his first stint was from 2015 to 2019. Upgradation of the iconic Eden Gardens is among the top priorities for Ganguly, as the venue is set to host World Cup matches.
