Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI President would be hoping that he gets a second term. The former dynamic Cricketer has been one of the pioneers of the Indian Cricket Team. India has not won ICC tournaments under his term but he has been quite successful in overseas tours, especially in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.
The post of BCCI President is one of the biggest in World Cricket. This time elections would be tough for Sourav Ganguly as Roger Binny is the likely candidate for the post. It would be interesting to see how things unfold for Indian Cricket.
Critical Phase for Sourav Ganguly
Sourav Ganguly is someone who can empower Cricket. Ganguly would be worried as the recent Supreme Court had allowed the President for a consecutive second term. According to sources, a meeting is scheduled on 11th October where they would be discussing the next BCCI President.
There are chances that Jay Shah will hold on to his BCCI Secretary post. Jay Shah has been quite remarkable in his tenure. He is eligible for the term according to the new guidelines by BCCI along with Sourav Ganguly.
Roger Binny the Strong Contender
Not many know that Roger Binny was a part of the winning ICC Cricket World Cup 1983 squad. The veteran was a part of the selection panel in 2012. The all-rounder was criticized during his tenure that he favoured his son Stuart Binny.
It would be interesting to see what changes Roger Binny makes to Indian Cricket if selected. There are chances that the importance of Test Matches would increase. BCCI has had a history of throwing surprises and the upcoming elections would be quite eventful.
