Sourav Ganguly's brother Snehasish Ganguly and his wife escape death: 'This is second life for us'

Snehasish Ganguly, president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), and his wife had a narrow escape at Puri Beach last week.
The former Bengal cricketer, who is also the brother of former India captain Sourav Ganguly, and his wife were on vacation in Puri when the incident occurred. They were taking a boat ride in the sea on Saturday (May 24) when the boat capsized. Fortunately, the incident occurred close to the shore, allowing the local divers and lifesavers to act swiftly and rescue the couple.

A video that is doing the rounds on social media shows the divers and lifesavers rescuing Snehasish and Arpita while battling strong waves. Soon after being rescued, both Snehasish and Arpita returned to Kolkata and are safe now.
"It was a life-threatening accident. The boat capsized and we were saved by the local people and fishermen," Ganguly was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.. "I thank Lord Jagannath. This is sort of second life for us."

Snehasish Ganguly's journey in cricket:
Unlike his brother, Sourav Ganguly, Snehasish Ganguly could not represent India in international cricket. However, he has been linked with the game for decades now. He represented Bengal in domestic cricket for a decade from the 1986 to 1996/97 season.
Overall, Snehasish Ganguly played 59 first-class games and scored 2534 runs with the help of 6 centuries and 11 fifties. He also played 18 List A games and scored 275 runs. After retiring from the game as a cricketer, he focused on his family's printing business.
In the last few years, he has been associated with the game as an administrator. In 2022, Snehasish Ganguly was elected as the president of CAB. Before that, he also served as the CAB secretary under Avishek Dalmiya.
