South Africa Women announce their squad for the upcoming World Cup 2025
In the squad announced for the 2025 World Cup 2025, the South African Women's team selectors have brought some surprise names. They have included 17-year-old Karabo Meso, the young keeper-batter who has played just 2 ODI matches for the Proteas women.
On the other hand, Nondumiso Shangase is the other player who would also be featuring in her first World Cup after being recalled into the South African Women's squad. After some great performances in the last T20I World Cup, top-order batter Anneke Bosch, all-rounder Nadine de Klerk and Annerie Drecksen will also feature in their first ODI World Cup.
The rest of the squad looks pretty obvious, with the all-rounders Marizanne Kapp, Sune Luus and Chloe Tryon bringing in all the experience alongside them. However, former skipper Dane van Niekerk, who reversed her retirement, could not get a spot in the side.

South Africa Women to prepare for World Cup 2025 with series against Pakistan Women
South Africa's recent tournament success in the ICC World Cups includes two ODI World Cup semi-finals and back-to-back losses in the T20 World Cup finals. Finally, the Men's team had broken their years-long jinx and won an ICC event in the WTC Final of 2025; the same would be eyed by the Women's team.
"We believe we have the squad of players that can go out there and deliver on the world stage. Now it is all about carrying that belief with us every step of the way, along with the support of the entire nation," head coach Mashimbyi believes this team could deliver.
They will play a three-match ODI series against Pakistan in Pakistan to get a clearer idea of the subcontinent conditions and then feature in India and Sri Lanka for the warm-up matches against Bangladesh and Pakistan.
