South Africa women's team creates history by defeating Australia in the 2nd ODI, registers their first win against Australia in ODIs

South Africa Women’s Cricket team created history as they won their registered their first victory against Australia Women’s in the ODI format for Women’s Cricket. The second ODI of the three-match series was played at the North Sydney Oval in Sydney and it was reduced to a 45-over contest because of a delayed start.

The hosts Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first and had a brilliant start with the ball as they got the wicket of South African skipper Laura Wolvaardt in the very first over.

Tazmin Brits and Anneke Bosch added 55 runs for the second wicket but after the partnership was broken, South Africa lost wickets at regular intervals as Anneke Bosch was out for 44 when the team’s score was 71 and then Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp added 46 runs for the fourth wicket.

Marizanne Kapp then again stitched a 45-run partnership with Chloe Tryon for the sixth wicket eventually falling to Megan Schutt after scoring 75 off 87 deliveries, an innings filled with ten boundaries.

Chloe Tryon then played aggressively to score 37 runs off 36 deliveries with the help of three boundaries and one six. South Africa reached a total of 229 runs for the loss of six wickets in 45 overs and Australia had to chase 230 runs to win the contest and seal the series. However, what unfolded was a brilliant performance from South African bowlers.

Australia was bowled out for just 149 under 30 overs by South Africa and the visitors clinched their first-ever win against Australia in Women’s ODIs. Marizanne Kapp was also the star with the ball as she took a figure of 3/12 in five overs.

She was selected as the Player of The Match for her all-round performance. Apart from her, Ayanda Hlubi, Eliz-mari Marx and Nadine de Klerk took two wickets each and Chloe Tryon took a wicket to end the Australian innings.

South Africa Women’s Team Will Also Play A One-Off Test Against Australia Women’s

South Africa Women’s Team is on a multi-format tour in Australia and has already played three T20Is and two ODIs as of now. They have yet to play an ODI and a one-off Test against Australia in this tour. Australia won the T20 series 2-1 and the ODI series is currently levelled at 1-1.

The decider will be played on Saturday, February 10 in Sydney. After the conclusion of the ODI series, the two teams will feature in a one-off Women’s Test match in Perth starting on February 15.

The second Women’s ODI between Australia and South Africa also saw a bizarre incident as umpire Claire Polosak had a brain-fading moment as she gave the wrong signal of out when the third umpire asked her to stay with her original decision of not out.

The players had a great laugh at her expense as she realised quickly that she signalled the decision wrong and then signalled not out after raising her finger before signalling out.

South Africa Women’s Cricket team won their first Women’s ODI game against Australia. Recently, India Women’s team defeated Australia Women’s team for the first time in Test cricket and now South Africa has also broken a barrier against the cricketing giants.
