Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have signed up Harsh Dubey as an injury replacement for Smaran Ravichandran, the IPL announced on Monday (May 5).
Smaran had himself joined SRH as an injury replacement. Last month, the Hyderabad-based franchise had roped in the Karnataka batsman as a replacement for Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa.
SRH have found it hard in IPL 2025
Even before Smaran could get a chance to make his debut in the ongoing IPL 2025, an unfortunate injury ended his campaign.
With Smaran sidelined, SRH have roped in Harsh Dubey. The 22-year-old is a left-arm spin-bowling allrounder and plies his trade for Vidarbha i domestic cricket. He grabbed the headlines during the last domestic season when he broke the record for the most wickets in a Ranji Trophy season.

Harsh Dubey picked up 69 wickets to help Vidarbha clinch the title. Even though the Vidarbha star had an outstanding season in domestic cricket, he could not attract a single bid during the auction. He has not joined SRH for INR 30 lakh, his base price at the last IPL auction.
"Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) signed Harsh Dubey as an injury replacement for Smaran Ravichandran for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025," the IPL stated.
Harsh Dubey's record in white-ball cricket
While Harsh has impressed one and all with his exploits in red-ball cricket, he is yet to reach similar heights in white-ball cricket. In List A cricket, he has picked up only 21 wickets in 20 innings while having an average of almost 35.
His record in T20s is not very impressive either. In 16 innings, Dubey has managed to pick up only 9 wickets, although he has a decent economy rate of 6.78.
Dubey might be given a look in
While Smaran could not make his debut in IPL this year, Dubey will be hoping to get a chance.
He has joined SRH at a time when they are on the brink of elimination. With just 3 wins from 10 games, they are currently in the ninth spot in the points table. Even if SRH go on to win their remaining four league games, they are unlikely to make it to the playoffs. Their next game is against Delhi Capitals on Monday (May 5).
