Former India cricketer turned expert pundit Mohammad Kaif lauded Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma for their "career-ending" batting last night.
The deadly duo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, which has been rattling opposing bowlers throughout the IPL 2024 season, were on target once again.
This time they chose to dismantle and push the Lucknow Super Giants off-track with a sensation 167-run partnership to win by 10-wickets by the 10th over in front of home support athe Rajiv Gandhi stadium.
Mohammad Kaif says the Aussie mindset is instilled within the Hyderabad unit
While speaking to Star Sports after SRH moved to 3rd in the points table, Mohammad Kaif had quite a few things to say about the Hyderabad core unit.
From his observation, Kaif noted that due to the presence of two Australian World Champions - Pat Cummins and Travis Head in the team, the 2016 champions have totally transformed their mindset.
Kaif pointed out that the Australia's never die and never say never attitude has been embedded within the Sunrisers unit and that is helping them destory opposing teams.
The former top-order batsman then brought up memories from the 2003 Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia.
Mohammad Kaif revealed that Sourav Ganguly was extremely confident about winning the World Cup final after winning the toss.
Ganguly was confident about the ball swinging but by the end of the 1st innings, Ricky Ponting's side ended up posting 360.
"Pat Cummins - Aussie captain, Travis Head - player from Australia. So this is the Aussie intent. I remember the 2003 World Cup final - Australia against India. The conditions were overcast. We won the toss and (Sourav) Ganguly said we would win the match as the ball would swing. Australia made 360." - Kaif said via Star Sports.
In response to the mammoth total, the Indian team were crashed out for 234 and lost the WC final by 125-runs at the Wanderers stadium in Johannesburg.
Exactly 2 decades later, India and Australia met each other in the CWC final. This time the venue was the Narendra Modi stadium but the Aussie mindset and the result was the same.
It was the same Travis Head, who is thrashing opposing bowlers in IPL 2024, that scored the match winning century and won Australia their 6th 50-over WC title. Apparently the left-hand batter is inserting the same mindset to Abhishek Sharma.
Kaif says Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma want to end careers of bowlers
Mohammad Kaif went on to add that Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma's batting will definitely tarnish and end the career of any particular bowler.
Kaif stated that the Head-Abhishek pairing is a career-ending one for the opposing bowlers as they bat in such a daunting manner that no bowler has any clue whatsoever.
"This has not happened for the first time. We have seen in this entire IPL that bowlers are unable to stop these two batters. This is career-ending batting, that the bowler is dropped from the next match, they are batting like that." - Kaif concluded.
