Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra stated that the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) batters launched a relentless assault against the Delhi Capitals (DC) bowlers. Aakash Chopra mentioned that SunRisers Hyderabad posted a mammoth total despite losing wickets at regular intervals in the middle overs.

The Pat Cummins-led team posted a total of 266/7 in overs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, April 20.

The visiting team bowled out the opposition for 199 runs in 19.1 overs. The SRH team recorded their fifth victory out of seven matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Abhishek Sharma Ran Even Faster Than Him - Aakash Chopra

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra highlighted Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma's onslaught on the Delhi Capitals bowlers in the powerplay.

"What sort of punishment are you giving? They were hitting sixes one after the other. They are hitting at a different level. The interesting is that Travis Head scored 89 runs off 32 balls with the help of six sixes and Abhishek Sharma ran even faster than him. He scored 46 runs off 12 balls. He also hit six sixes," Chopra said.

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma added 125 runs in the first overs, setting the record for the most runs in a powerplay in T20 history. Head reached the milestone of just 16 balls inside the three overs. Abhishek scored 46 runs off just 12 balls before being dismissed in the seventh over.

They Lost Three-Four Wickets At One Stage - Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra noted that Nitish Reddy, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Abdul Samad maintained an aggressive approach even after the team lost a few wickets.

"Whoever was coming was getting hit. Then they lost three wickets at one stage and you felt what would happen. Nitish Reddy, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Abdul Samad had the license to play cautiously as it would still work out. However, I feel it's illegal to play cautiously in this team," Chopra added.

Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen were dismissed in quick succession, leaving the team 154/4 in 19.1 overs. Nitish Reddy and Shahbaz Ahmed added 67 runs off 47 deliveries for the fifth wicket. Shahbaz smashed his maiden half-century, scoring 59 runs off 29 balls with the help of 2 fours and 5 sixes.

Jake Fraser-McGurk Is Playing Differently - Aakash Chopra

The cricketer-turned-commentator commended Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel for their aggressive batting during the Delhi Capitals' chase.

"Prithvi (Shaw) came and hit four fours off the first four balls and then got out. Jake Fraser-McGurk - this player is also playing differently. He hit only fours and sixes in a Washington Sundar over - three sixes and three fours. Abhishek Porel is also a good player. He scored 42 runs off just 22 balls," Chopra further stated.

Jake Fraser-McGurk scored a half-century off just 15 balls. Fraser-McGurk smashed three back-to-sixes off Mayank Markande before being dismissed. He scored 65 runs off 18 balls, including five boundaries and seven sixes. Abishek Porel added 42 runs and 22 balls during the run chase.
