Sri Lanka Confirms Three Match Test Series In England Next Year For ICC World Test Championship Cycle 2023-25 - Reports

The Sri Lankan cricket team is poised to participate in a three-match Test series in England next year as part of their World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. As per reports, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has recently confirmed this exciting development.

The Sri Lanka National Cricket Team is set to visit England for a red-ball series next year as part of the Future Tour Programs (FTP). The Test series, which is crucial for both teams to advance to the WTC final match, is scheduled to be played during the next English summer.

Sri Lanka Will Play Three Test Matches In England – Reports

According to the Daily Mirror Sri Lanka, the Island Nation is set to participate in the Test series in England in 2024, as confirmed by sources in the ECB and a senior SLC official. The official reiterated their commitment to honoring the schedule provided by the ECB.

“Yes, we are committed to honour the schedule given by the ECB and accordingly will play three Test matches under the banner of the ICC’s World Test Championship,” the official said.

The first match of a three-match series between England and Sri Lanka will take place at Old Trafford, Manchester (August 21-25), the second Test at Lord’s, London (August 29-September 2), and the final game at Kennington Oval, London (September 6-10).

England Set To Host West Indies Next Summer

The England cricket team will have a busy schedule next summer, hosting top-level Test cricket throughout the season. The Three Lions have scheduled an additional series of three Test matches against the West Indies, which are set to take place in July 2024.

The Ben Stokes-led team is in fifth place in the ongoing 9-team WTC points table with a 15-point percentage. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, is at the bottom of the table with 0 points. The two failed to advance to the finals of the first two editions of red-ball cricket.
