Sri Lanka Cricket (CSK) has named 16-member squads for the upcoming white-ball tour of England. Wicketkeeper batter Kusal Mendis is set to captain the team in both ODIs and T20Is, with middle-order batter Charith Asalanka serving as vice-captain in both formats during the six-match series.

Sri Lanka will leave for England on September 5. As per the schedule, the three-match T20I series will begin in Southampton on September 15, followed by matches in Cardiff and Manchester. The ODI series will be played from September 22 to 27, with games in Durham, Leeds, and London’s The Oval.

Sri Lanka Name Dasun Shanaka in ODI Squad for England Tour

Former captain Dasun Shanaka has returned to Sri Lanka’s ODI squad for the England tour and has also retained his place in the T20I squad. His inclusion strengthens the squad with his experience.

The selectors have made separate additions to the two squads. Lahiru Udara, Tharindu Rathnayake, Nuwan Thushara, and Binura Fernando have been named only for the T20Is. Pavan Rathnayake, Sachindu Colombage, Asitha Fernando, and Dilshan Madushanka have been included only in the ODI squad.

Nine players, including Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara, Kamindu Mendis, Janith Liyanage, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera, and Eshan Malinga, will feature in both formats.

Sri Lanka Aim to Carry West Indies Form Into England Tour

Sri Lanka’s most recent white-ball assignment came during their all-format tour of the West Indies in June 2026. Kusal Mendis led the team in both limited-overs formats after taking over the ODI captaincy from Charith Asalanka and the T20I leadership from Dasun Shanaka.

The ODI series ended 1-0 in Sri Lanka’s favour after weather disruptions prevented a full three-match contest. Sri Lanka won the opening ODI by 41 runs after posting 303/7, with Mendis playing an important role with the bat. The visitors then bowled out the West Indies for 262 to take the lead.

Rain affected the remaining two matches. The second ODI was abandoned without a result after play was interrupted during the first innings, while the third match was washed out without a ball being bowled. As a result, Sri Lanka secured the series despite playing only one completed game.

Notably, the West Indies won the T20I series by 2-1. The hosts took the opening match by seven wickets after restricting Sri Lanka to 147/9. Sri Lanka then levelled the series with a 37-run victory in the second T20I. The West Indies won the final T20I by five wickets to claim the series.
