Zimbabwe will be up against Sri Lanka in the second of the two-match ODI series. This article provides details about Sri Lanka's Playing 11 vs Zimbabwe for the second match of the series.

Sri Lanka Playing 11 vs Zimbabwe- 2nd ODI, Sri Lanka Tour of Zimbabwe 2025:

Openers: Pathum Nissanka, Nishan Madushka

Lanka might not be happy with their performance in the last match despite a win in the series opener because they were below par at crucial stages in the match, and would feel that they have gotten out of jail.

To start with, the top three batters found it difficult to rotate strike in the first ten overs and will have to find a way of doing so in the upcoming game.

The opening pair of Pathum Nissanka and Nishan Madushka will have to play with a bit more intent compared to how they batted in the first match.

While Nissanka was able to make up for his slow start by scoring a half-century, Madushka was unable to cope with some good fast bowling by Zimbabwe and will look to score some runs in the next match.

The contribution of the top three batters will play a crucial role in determining what kind of score Sri Lanka can post on the board in the second ODI while batting first.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Kusal Mendis (wk), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka (c), Janith Liyanage, Kamindu Mendis

The openers would also like the middle order that somewhat failed in the previous match to put on a strong show with the bat.

The onus will be on captain Charith Asalanka, who missed out on making a significant contribution in the last match, to lead from the front, and he will hope for good support from the other end.

Other than Asalanka, Sri Lanka would also like Sadeera Smarawickrma to come good in the final ODI, and for Janith Liyanage and Kamindu Mendis to continue the form that they showed in the last match.

Sri Lanka most probably bat till number seven; as a result, the majority of the team's runs will have to be scored by the top five batters.

Bowlers: Dushmantha Chameera, Maheesh Theekshana, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka

Lanka will bank on their bowlers to do the job once again, like they did in the first match of the series, as the likes of Dilshan Madusanka and Asitha Fernando guided the team to a win from an unlikely situation.

Having said that, Sri Lanka would have liked to close out the game a lot earlier than they did after a sixth-wicket century stand made things difficult for them at the backend of the innings.

Dushmantha Chammera and Co. would want to put on a much improved performance, especially in the middle overs, once they have got the opposition on the mat.

Despite a mixed performance with the ball, the visitors are expected to go with an unchanged bowling combination with the trio of Dushamtha Chammera, Asiyha Fernando, and Dilshan Madushanka taking care of the fast bowling department.

As far as the team's spin bowling is concerned, it will be handled by Maheesh Theeksha as the frontline spinner, with Charith Asalanka, Janith Liyanage, and Kamindu Mendis making up the quota of the fifth bowler.
