For the openers, Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne might be the openers for Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2023. Both have handled the opening slot for the team for the last few years.

Nissanka is a right-handed batsman while Karunaratne is a left-handed batter. Hence, both also provide a left-right variation to the opening attack. This year, Nissanka has hit 687 runs in 14 games. Karunaratne has scored 481 in 10 games.
