Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming has urged his players to draw inspiration from Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) comeback in the last IPL season. Fleming is optimistic about the MS Dhoni-led team being able to win all six remaining matches to reach the playoffs in the ongoing season.

Chennai Super Kings are currently struggling at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table after eight matches. They must win all of their remaining six games to have any chance of making the playoffs. In their most recent outing, CSK suffered a heavy nine-wicket defeat to Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium.

We're Still Hopeful of Winning 6 Out of 6 - Stephen Fleming

Ahead of their upcoming match against SRH, Stephen Fleming expressed confidence in his team's ability to draw inspiration from RCB's successful run last year. Fleming emphasized that CSK can win all their remaining matches.

"We're still hopeful of winning 6 out of 6, and some will giggle at that, but RCB set a blueprint for that the year before," Fleming said.

RCB were at the bottom of the table with just one win from their first eight matches in IPL 2024. However, they won all six of their remaining games to finish fourth and secure a playoff spot, with their final win coming against CSK. It was described as one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the IPL.

We've Got to Make the Most of What Has Been a Poor Season - Stephen Fleming

Fleming stated that the team is also preparing for the possibility that the comeback may not happen. He added that they will pick best players for their upcoming match.

"So while there's still a chance, we have one eye on making sure that we think the best players for this game coming up will play, but we're also aware that if it doesn't work out, that we've got to make the most of what has been a poor season," the CSK head coach added.

The five-time champions will take on SunRisers Hyderabad in their next match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, April 25.

There Won't Be a Wasted Game or Opportunity - Stephen Fleming

Stephen Fleming also responded to MS Dhoni’s recent remarks about focusing on the future if they are out of the playoff race. Fleming stated that the team’s ability to use transition periods has helped them secure titles in previous years.

"And the work we did a couple of times, we were in this position in the past set us up to win the title the following year. So we're certainly aware of what needs to be done and how we can go about it," he said.

“There won't be a wasted game or an opportunity in the next few weeks, and the players know that as well. And that creates opportunity and creates a bit of competition within. We won't let any time go to waste,” said Fleming.
