Steve Smith builds his perfect player; Excludes Indian legend

Australian legendary cricketer Steve Smith has picked his perfect player with 5 main attributes, as suggested to him. He didn't cite players like Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, or Ricky Ponting, and rather picked modern-day players to build his perfect player.

Before the Ashes marks the beginning of the Australian summer, Steve Smith, the legendary Australian cricketer who was once part of the Fab-4, has been picked for an interview and asked to pick a perfect player.

Steve Smith did not cite any of the mentioned qualities in him, as he picked one English, one Indian, one Kiwi, and two Australian cricketers and handpicked their qualities for a unique batter. Smith has 10000+ runs for Australia in the longest format of the game and has meanwhile retired from the ODI format.

Steve Smith hails English batter Joe Root for his technique

The first and most crucial quality that a batsman would need includes technique, and hence, Steve Smith cited the English legend Joe Root as the batter with the most sublime technique.

The batter recently, during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, top-scored for England and was their highest run-getter in the format. He is currently the second-highest run-getter in the Test format and has been cited to break Sachin Tendulkar's record of most runs in Test cricket.

The English batter has, however, recently not shown convincing form in the white-ball format. His form in the New Zealand ODIs was pretty unconvincing.

Fab-4 summoned in Steve Smith's exclusive perfect player

The previous decade of international cricket marked the likes of four great batsmen from four different nations in a list of players called the Fab-4. It marked Steve Smith from Australia, Joe Root from England, Virat Kohli from India, and Kane Williamson from New Zealand.

Smith picked Kane Williamson to have the best mentality on the field as a cricketer. "Kane Williamson. Just always in the moment. Switched on the bats for long periods of time," said Smith.

"Probably Virat Kohli. I think his ability to chase runs, his average in chases, is just outrageous—so Virat Kohli," Smith hands down mentioned Kohli, the chase master, as the clutch player.

"Pretty good player," remarked the presenter, and Smith answered wittily, "He's not bad, yeah," he giggled.

Smith idealises a unique ability in Australian teammates

When Smith was asked about who could be cited as the finest power hitter. Smith revealed with ease that it could be his Australian teammate Tim David, who is a staunch hitter of the cricket ball.

"Just holds the bat so open. Big strong guy and hits the balls miles," assured Smith.

Smith identified Glenn Maxwell as the player who could be an X-factor for any team on his best day. "Yeah, he plays it all around the ground. He is not short of confidence, and yeah, when he has his day out, he's probably as hard to stop as anyone," said Smith.
