Shreyas Iyer said on IQOO India's 'The Qest Talk' podcast, "Stop giving a shit about what people think about you. Period. Once you have that mindset, you will keep working on yourself. Shreyas Iyer opens up on Asia Cup 2025 snub

Meanwhile, Iyer admitted that it is “frustrating” to be overlooked for the India selection when he deserves the spot, referring to his Asia Cup 2025 snub, but he believes in handling non-selection with grace and integrity.

He stressed that supporting teammates is crucial, as the ultimate goal is the team’s success while “working hard ethically” even when no one is watching.

He added, “At the time, it is frustrating, but at the same time, when you know that someone is performing and playing consistently for the team and bringing the best, you support him, and you want the goal to eventually be for the team to win. And when the team is winning, everyone is happy.”

Shreyas Iyer’s advice to young cricketers is pure gold

For young players chasing big dreams, Iyer advised them to be just in the moment, enjoy the journey, create a routine, and cut out distractions. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain also pointed out that believing in yourself is crucial, even when others doubt you.

He signed off by saying, “I would just tell him, enjoy where you are. And one thing that has helped me the most was having a routine for myself. Build a routine, cut the outside noise, and leave aside all the distractions. I always believe in myself. There are some people who don't believe me.”
