BCCI release an official statement

The IPL said in an official media release: “Senior all-rounder and former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ravindra Jadeja will represent Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the upcoming IPL season following a successful trade."

"Jadeja, who played for CSK for 12 seasons, is among the most experienced players in the league, having played over 250 games. As part of the trade agreement, his league fee has been revised from INR 18 crore to INR 14 crore.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain and India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson will now represent Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at his existing league fee of INR 18 crore. One of the most experienced players in the league, Samson has played 177 IPL matches.

CSK will be only the third franchise of his career. Since making his IPL debut in 2013, the senior pro has represented RR in all but two seasons—2016 and 2017—when he played for Delhi Capitals.”

Here's how fans react to the high-profile trade deal:

Ravindra Jadeja's IPL journey

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja’s IPL journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. At just 19, he started his career in 2008 with the Rajasthan Royals and immediately became a key part of their historic title win in the first-ever IPL season.

Across the two seasons, Jadeja played 27 matches for the Royals and scored 430 runs and took six wickets and quickly became one of the most exciting young all-rounders in the IPL. However, Jadeja’s progress suffered a setback in 2010 when he was suspended for breaching contract rules.

But the Indian all-rounder bounced back stronger in 2011, when he joined Kochi Tuskers Kerala and stood out with 283 runs and eight wickets in 14 matches. The biggest turning point came in 2012 when CSK signed him for INR 9.72 crore, making him one of the most expensive buys of that auction.

From then on, Jadeja became a key pillar of CSK’s success. Even during CSK’s two-year ban in 2016 and 2017, he delivered for Gujarat Lions, scoring 349 runs and taking 13 wickets in 27 matches.

Across 13 seasons with CSK, Jadeja played 254 matches and scored over 3,200 runs, apart from taking 143 wickets, and became their highest wicket-taker, cementing his legacy as one of the franchise’s all-time greats.

He also shares the record for the most Player-of-the-Match awards (16) alongside Dhoni.
