Former Australian spinner Stuart MacGill and his partner Maria O’Meagher have been forced to vacate their Sydney-based restaurant, which they had been running for 5 years after their landlord seized the building.

This comes after Stuart MacGill was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted in April over a drug-related dispute.

The former leg-spinner was abducted at gunpoint at his southwestern Sydney property if reports are to be believed.

As per police investigation, MacGill was forcefully taken into a vehicle near his home at Cremorne on Sydney’s lower north shore before being taken to a Bringelly property in Sydney’s southwest area where he was assaulted at gunpoint.

According to the police, MacGill was a victim and he was not involved in any illegal activity.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, MacGill’s partner said that the couple has been under a lot of stress and the decision has been taken because of high rent and poor business conditions in the area.

In a Facebook post, the couple said that they have been trying to negotiate the rent but the landlord wants to increase the rent, thinking that the pandemic is over.

The post also mentions how the couple has been getting a series of threats after MacGill’s abduction.  The couple had to incur extra staff to make up for their absence in the restaurant when Stuart MacGill was kidnapped.

The couple is now looking forward to taking some time off and spend some time with their loved ones and they have promised that they will see their customers at a new venture in the near future.
